SSC 2026: live photo, uploaded signature
Many older guides still quote “SSC photo 20–50 KB”. That is out of date. In the SSC CGL 2026 notice, the photograph is captured live through the camera during the application – there is no photo file to resize and no KB limit. What you still upload is your signature.
| Item | Rule (SSC CGL 2026 notice) |
|---|---|
| Photo | Captured live in the form; no file, no KB limit. Do not photograph an old print. |
| Signature format | JPEG |
| Signature size | 10–20 KB |
| Signature dimensions | About 6.0 × 2.0 cm (para 9.6); Annexure-IV says about 4.0 × 2.0 cm |
| Aadhaar-authenticated applications | Not rejected on photo/signature grounds |

How to make the SSC signature
The tool defaults to the 6.0 × 2.0 cm signature from para 9.6. A 4.0 × 2.0 cm option is also there, because the notice’s Annexure-IV says 4.0 × 2.0 cm. Pick the one your form shows, crop tightly and click Make signature – we compress until the JPEG is between 10 and 20 KB. The notice gives the size in cm, not pixels, so we save up to 600 px wide (a MondayKit default).
Tips for the live photo
- Sit facing a plain light wall with even light on your face.
- Remove caps and dark glasses; keep your face in the centre of the frame.
- Use a device with a working front camera and a stable internet connection.
Common rejection reasons
- File outside the KB range (too big or too small).
- Wrong format – the portal expects JPG/JPEG, not PNG or HEIC (convert iPhone photos with HEIC to JPG).
- Coloured or shadowed background instead of plain white.
- Face too small, ears hidden, or a cap, mask or dark glasses.
- Signature in CAPITAL letters, in pencil, or on lined paper.
