What is Word counter?
Word counter measures your writing as you type. It counts words, characters with and without spaces, sentences and paragraphs, estimates reading time at 238 words per minute and speaking time at 150 wpm, and lists the words you use most. It uses Intl.Segmenter where available, so Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and other scripts are counted properly.
When to use it
- Keep an essay or SOP within a word limit.
- Check a meta description or tweet length.
- Estimate how long a speech will take.
- Spot overused words in a blog post.
Tips for the best result
- Character limits on social media usually include spaces.
- Top keywords ignore common words like “the” and “and”.
- Your text stays in this tab only – it is not saved.
Limits and privacy
Sentence detection is based on punctuation and may differ slightly from word processors. Processing happens entirely in your browser, so your data never leaves your device and there is nothing to sign up for. Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
