What is Compress image?

Compress image reduces the size of photos and graphics so they upload faster, load quicker on websites and fit through form size limits. It runs browser-image-compression in a Web Worker, so even big batches do not freeze the page, and shows the saving for each file.

When to use it

  • Get a photo under a 200 KB limit for an online form.
  • Speed up a website by shrinking product photos.
  • Email a batch of holiday photos without hitting size limits.
  • Convert PNG screenshots to much smaller WebP files.

Tips for the best result

  • Quality 70–80% is usually indistinguishable from the original.
  • Setting a max width of 1920 px saves a lot on phone photos.
  • WebP is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality.

Limits and privacy

Target-size mode gets within about 10% of the target or tells you the closest it could reach. PNG compression keeps transparency but saves less than lossy formats. Processing happens entirely in your browser, so your data never leaves your device and there is nothing to sign up for. Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Many people who use Compress image also need Resize image or Image converter, and Crop image is one click away. Every MondayKit tool works the same way – open the page, add your input, get the result – with no account, no watermark and no upload.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to a specific KB size?

Switch to Target size, enter the size in KB and click Compress. We land within about 10% or report the closest size we could reach.

Does compression reduce quality?

Lossy compression removes detail you rarely notice. Quality 70–80% usually looks the same as the original.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add several images and download them individually or as one ZIP.

Which format is smallest?

WebP is usually the smallest, then JPG. PNG is larger but lossless and keeps transparency.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression runs in a Web Worker on your device.
